Academy of Scuba Divemaster Course

Change Your Life with a Professional Dive Career

The Academy of Scuba Divemaster Course is the first professional level certification. During this course you will be challenged and learn what it is like to work with divers as they experience the underwater world for the first time and you will learn how to lead already certified divers and show them some of your favorite critters or dive sites.  Your  Instructor will also teach you how to manage divers, work the dive deck of a boat, and conducting safe and enjoyable dives.  

Other things you can expect to learn is diving Physics and Physiology, and being a professional  Divemaster.  Your skills will be refined to demonstration quality and your knowledge increased to that of a professional.  

What can Divemasters do?

  • Work at local dive centers, on live-aboard dive boats, yachts and at exotic resort locations

  • Assist Instructors with students

  • Lead Scuba Divers on guided dive tours

  • Teach and certify Skin Divers

  • Teach Discover Snorkeling programs

  • Conduct Scuba Review programs for certified divers

  • Lead certified divers on Discover Local Diving experiences

  • Teach Emergency First Response programs after successful completion of an Emergency First Response Instructor course.

What do I need to start?

  • Advanced Open Water Diver or qualifying certification from another training organization.

  • Rescue Diver certification or qualifying certification from another training organization.

  • CPR / First Aid Certification

  • Medical clearance signed by a physician

  • 20 logged dives

  • 18 years old

What will I do?

  1. Learn dive leadership through classroom and independent study sessions

  2. Complete water skills and stamina exercises in confined and open water

  3. Training exercises to test organizational and problem solving abilities

  4. An internship or series of practical training exercises

At the end of this course, which certifications will I qualify for?
You may qualify for the one or both of the following certifications:

  • PADI Divemaster

  • SDI Divemaster

Do I need to take all of these courses?
No you need to take the PADI Divemaster Course at a minimum.  You can decide on the first night of class which tracks you will be involved in.

How much does it cost for training for all the above courses?
Training cost is a flat fee of $600!

What does the training cost include?
It includes training only.  Equipment, travel, air fills, class materials, transportation fees and everything else are not included.

How long will it take?
Two months  to three months. Sign up and start whenever you want. You will progress at your own pace.

After you have completed the Divemaster course you can move onto the SDI Assistant Instructor Course where you will learn more about academic presentations and have the ability to teach certain specialties
