Deep Diver Specialty - $259

Walls, Wrecks, Marine Life!

There are many reasons to dive deep. However, this is not just a course about diving to numbers. This is a course on how to safely dive to the depths. Key life support skills, techniques, and knowledge to comfortably extend your recreational dive limits.

The Academy of Scuba's Deep Diver course is a must for any diver wishing to explore a little more and will teach you the risks and benefits of deep diving. Many interesting sights lie just beyond 18m/60ft, such as beautiful wall dives, ship wrecks, and critters that don’t come into the shallows. During the course, your instructor will cover skills like:

  • Proper descents
  • Air management
  • Effects of nitrogen narcosis
  • Dive planning

By the end of the course your knowledge and comfort level will have increased. The Deep Diver course has a maximum depth of 40m/130ft, the suggested sport diving limit.

Required Equipment
All your personal Scuba equipment necessary and appropriate to dive in the environment you are training including tanks and weights. In addition you will need:

  • 2 Cutting Devices (Knife and/or Shears)
  • 1 Visual Safety Device (Sausage, Mirror, etc.)
  • 1 Audible Safety Device (Whistle, Air Horn, etc.)
  • 1 Backup Flashlight
  • Compass, Slate with Pencil, Tables and/or Computer

Recommended Equipment

  • Pony Bottle with Regulator and Gauge
  • Larger or HID Flashlight
  • Double Tanks (only with previous experience)
  • Drysuit (only if Drysuit Certified)
  • Divers Platform

Course Prerequisites

  • Minimum Advanced Open Water Diver
  • Minimum Age of 18, Minimum Age of 15 with Parental Consent
